FLdigi is the backbone of all SEEN and AMRRON communications on the HF bands. While a few others are used i.e. VarAC, and Varim, Fldigi remains the go-to system for the transfer of large files of data. Fldigi is a program consisting of several modems for most of the digital modes used by radio amateurs today. Contestia, FSQ, MFSK, CW, PSK, MFSK, RTTY, Hell, DominoEX, Olivia, and Throb are all supported as well as modes suitable for VHF/UHF operations.
In addition, we also operate using JS8Call and it has become a vital part of our program. One of the many things that make it unique is the automatic HeartBeat (HB) transmissions, and the ability to put your station on automatic mode. It is used to identify propagation routes and to act as a mailbox in situations where the operator is not at his station. While it is slow it is very accurate in deciphering signals all the way down to -28db.
An operator can also use other stations as a relay to send traffic to a station that is on the air but unreachable direct.
Slow – 30 second frames – 25Hz bandwidth – and around 8WPM decoded down to -28dB
Normal – 15-second frames – 50Hz bandwidth – and around 16WPM decoded down to -24dB
Fast – 10-second frames – 80Hz bandwidth – and around 24WPM decoded down to -20dB
Turbo– 6-second frames – 160Hz bandwidth – and around 40WPM decoded down to -18dB
